I treat all religions with equal disdain.

*atheists have no right to impinge upon those practices
Uhh.. what?
In which part of the world do you see groups of atheists taking down churches/mosques/synogogues or imposing laws that require no one to follow and religion at all?
You don’t.
Sorry to break it to you, the only people *impinging* on other peoples religious practices are other religious people.

“The opposite of Christianity isn’t atheism, it’s idolatry.”
No.. I’m pretty sure it’s atheism.

Just an observation from an ex-christian.
Brilliant. :)
Genius. lol
show me how it hurts: I'm fucking sick to death of high and mighty atheists who can't just leave people to their beliefs.
Just because you’re not religious doesn’t make you better than anyone. I don’t know what the fuck makes people think that telling a Christian that God is an arsehole or there is no heaven or whatever is going to change the Christian’s mind, it’s just going to offend them. Where the fuck do they…
Well, at least you’ve found a way to make yourself feel higher and mightier than them, right? ;)
The problem does not lie in the belief in god. The problem lies in religion.

God wants religion
to be a barrier
To divide all the different people
Who stood side by side.
God wants hypocrisy
And constant war.
Common sense
He wants to ignore.
God wants exploitation,
His voice to be heard
And to spread diseases
that will never be cured.
He wants riches,
“It’s my word,” he’ll cry.
While millions of people Fall down. And die.
Well Here I am God,
doubting your existence, questioning your omnipotence.
To you the suffering world pleads their case,
to all you refuse to show your face,
in the eyes of the believers and the congregation,
I am condemned to hell, deserved of damnation.
But because I choose to think freely,
I do not have to listen to the merciless cries from the imaginary deity.
This is the best atheism comercial I have ever seen.
The Problem of Good
The atheist who challenges Christianity by asking how God can exist in a world with evil faces a bigger problem than the theist.
The theist must rise to the challenge, to be sure. But the atheist must also take his turn offering his own explanation, and his task faces a complication the theist does not encounter. He must explain how evil itself could exist in the first place to make room for his complaint. He must account for the objective, transcendent moral standard that has to be in position before moral judgments of any kind can be made.
This difficulty signals an additional problem: The atheist must also solve the problem of good. How can anything ultimately be evil or good in a universe bereft of any standard to make sense of the terms?
Darwin will not rescue the atheist here, because evolution is a materialistic process that can only produce material merchandise. No stirring and recombining of molecules over time will ever cause a moral fact to pop into existence in the immaterial realm. At best, Darwinism might account for behaviors or beliefs that human beings falsely label “moral” because the deception accomplishes some evolutionary purpose. But it is deception, pure and simple. The kind of robust morality necessary to ground the atheist’s complaint about evil is impossible on a materialist take on reality.
No, the atheist has not gotten rid of the problem of evil by rejecting God. He has compounded the problem. The only thing he has gotten rid of is hope.
I think it’s funny how people act like being an atheist (everyone’s default state. we’re not born believing in any god) is some big moral conundrum.
Sorry, I don’t need a 2,000 year old book to solve my moral and philosophical inquiries.
And I don’t need any of you brand of “hope”

Okay, rant time.
People are actually so awful to Christians.
I know a lot of you would say “Well, they’re awful people.” but that’s a complete stereotype!! Not all Christians are like, “LOVE GOD OR DIE.” Not all of us are like the Westboro Baptist Church, either, running around with signs that say “GOD HATES FAGS.” No, absolutely not.
I don’t think here are very many people who would actually make a blanket statement calling all Christians awful people. People who do that have much more wrong with them than just “not liking Christians” those people are who I like to call “prejudiced douchebags” and there are probably all sorts groups of people who they unjustifiably dislike.
Love God or Die? Absolutely not. I believe that everybody has the right to believe and practice whatever religion they do or do not believe in.
Thats nice that it’s what you believe. But you really don’t speak for your entire belief system. There are many Christians who actually do make death threats against the non-religious and the non-christians.
Now, obviously, those people don’t speak for you either. But please don’t minimize our experiences just because you don’t think that way.
Along that line, I think there are also a lot of people who say that they’re atheist because they think it’s the “cool thing to do” and are afraid that they’ll be judged for believing in any sort of deity. Don’t get me wrong, I believe (and KNOW) that there are actual atheists out there. People who don’t believe in any sort of deity, but I also think that there are a lot of people who say they’re atheist, as I said, to prevent from being judged for their belief.
OOOOOHHH please.
Now, maybe you aren’t from the US, and in other countries, this might be true. But in the US, Christians are an 85% majority. And atheists are an extremely disliked and untrusted minority. People in the US are more likely to lie and pretend to be a Christian than lie and pretend to be an atheist.
Anyways, back to what I said before. “God hates Fags.” UM. EXCUSE. ME. HOLD. UP. I certainly don’t believe God hates fags, maybe that’s just because I identify as someone who is sexually attracted to males and females (I don’t necessarily say I’m bisexual because I’ve never been in a situation to know whether I’d be attracted to someone who didn’t identify as male/female). Maybe it’s because I know that God forgives us for our sins and our acts, because Christ died on the cross for us.
Like I said, it’s nice that you aren’t homophobic, but what you say goes against your religious doctrine. And you are also the minority in thinking that for your religion.
If it weren’t for the Christian majority (or any religious majority, I realize if there was another religion in majority, they would probably do this too) gay marriage would be legal.
Please don’t minimize the things other people have been through because you aren’t homophobic.
Back to my original point, I don’t understand why it’s okay to mock Christians because of their faith. You wouldn’t walk up to somebody who said they are Muslim and mock them and tell them that their religion is wrong and they’re wrong for believing in it and they’re stupid for believing in it, and therefore they should not breed. I mean,
Well, I’d never walk up to anyone and mock them for their faith. Thats rude. But provoked, I’d treat a Muslim and a Christian just the same. To an atheist all religions are the same.
I know it happens, but the majority of people would NOT do such a thing. But yet, it seems socially acceptable EVERYWHERE to mock Christians. I see it on Tumblr too, all the time. Making fun of others because of what they believe?
You really can’t say thats the majority, can you?
Please stop acting like Christians are some super hated minority. Particularly if you live in the US. You don’t deserve to be treated like a special flower for being apart of your religion.
Particularly when your religion is actively oppressing an entire nation.
Have an open mind. You may not believe in any deity, but that doesn’t give you the right to mock somebody who does.
You are right, it doesn’t, but that doesn’t stop people who do believe in a diety from mocking us. It doesn’t stop them from barring us from holding public office.
